'No traffic disruption due to prayers’, CM Yogi issues guidelines for Bakrid

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued guidelines ahead of the Bakrid and Kanwar Yatra festivals, directing state authorities to ensure that sacrifices are performed only at designated places.

In a meeting held on Tuesday to discuss preparations for the festival season, Chief Minister Adityanath stressed the importance of maintaining law and order in the state during Bakrid and Kanwar Yatra. The guidelines also emphasize the prohibition of sacrifices involving prohibited animals and the proper disposal of waste in every district of Uttar Pradesh.

He reiterated that traffic movement should not be disrupted during Eid prayers and urged authorities to prevent any incidents that could hurt the sentiments of another community during religious processions.

"The traditional Kanwar Yatra will take place in the month of Shravan, starting from July 4. Before that, Bakrid will be celebrated on June 29. It is clear that this time is sensitive from the point of view of law and order. So we have to be constantly on alert," stated the Chief Minister.

To ensure law and order, Adityanath instructed the police to deploy additional forces in sensitive areas, conduct daily evening patrolling, and deal strictly with miscreants. He also ordered the proactive functioning of the 112 police response vehicles.

Earlier in the day, the Uttar Pradesh government announced the prohibition of open meat sales along the Kanwar Yatra route in the state, along with other necessary safety measures implemented for the pilgrimage.

In a related development, the Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board has issued an advisory in the state regarding Bakrid celebrations. The board has requested approximately 15,000 committees to conduct namaz (prayers) within mosque premises. If the number of participants exceeds the mosque's capacity, permission should be obtained from local authorities, according to the board chairman.
